5 Ways to Cozy up Your Home for the Cooler Months

These tips and tricks are meant to be easy ways to spruce up your home - mostly for free - and geared toward fall and winter. These additions can be made to any style of decorating. They are great ways to get your home sold faster if it is for sale, or simply for your own enjoyment this season.

1. BLANKETS

A throw blanket casually tossed over the arm of a couch or chair is a simple way to make your house feel warm and welcoming.

2. RUGS

If you do not have carpet in your home, rugs can help your home feel more comfortable. Additionally, shag rugs are a bonus because they usually offer more cushion and softness.

3. LAMPS

Many homes these days have been upgraded with recessed lighting. Although it is very convenient and much brighter than a standard lamp, there is something cozy about a low lit lamp on a cold day in the fall/winter. Hit the switch and opt for a lamp to set a comfy mood.

4. CLOCKS

Clocks are so timeless (no pun intended) and classic. They can always make an ordinary house feel like a well-loved home. Take your coziness to another level with a cuckoo clock!

5. FIREPLACE/CANDLES

Well, if none of those items do it for you, a fireplace is bound to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. If you are without a fireplace, candles will do the trick! The warmth of the fire combined with the scent of the fire or candle makes for a peaceful setting.

If you're selling your home in the cooler months, be sure to have the fireplace on in the pictures or even during an open house (with safety precautions of course).
